Here are the last two blocks - one yellow, one lavender.
The yellow one is based on the California Poppy, one of my favorite flowers.
The lavender one is based on a Violet. That was my mom's favorite flower, so that block is very special to me.
By the way, the yellow rose is your Gramps' favorite flower. What's yours?
Now I'm going to start the sashings and putting all these together. The next time you see a picture it will have the sashing strips (strips of fabric between the blocks) and the first border on it. After that I'll put the second border on, make a 'quilt sandwich' and start quilting it.
I'll also be posting a picture of your sister's quilt soon - it's completed.

The Center Block
Since the quilt is 9 blocks square, and I'm using 4 basic colors (pink, blue, yellow, lavender) and have 12 embroidery heart blocks, the center square had to be a bit different.
I've been mulling around how this would work for as long as I've been making these heart blocks! As you can see, there are 4 embroidery blocks.
The center dark pink is also what I'll use as sashing (the strip between the larger blocks).
The pink and lavender floral will be the outer border of your quilt and also the back of your quilt (so I really hope you like it!)
I love how this came out! I've also included close ups of all the embroidered blocks. I think I only have 3 more blocks to do and then start the sashing and borders and then quilt it!!
Love you,
Grandma Lin

A Blue One
Well Sadie, I just finished the first of two blue ones. I hope you like it.
What's left? Well, the second blue one, the second yellow one, and two lavender ones. Then I will be doing a 'multi color' one - it will be a little different - it will go in the center. I haven't appliqued all the hearts on that one, but it won't take too long.
Your sister's quilt is almost quilted as well. I want to have that one finished by the time I'm ready to quilt yours - which won't be too much longer!
Oh, that shoe to the right is a pair of tennis shoes I'm doing for a 'shoes and socks' wall hanging. All the shoes and socks are cute and silly. I figured it could hang right by the door to the garage.
I hope you had a great birthday party. You'll have to tell me about it soon. And let me know what you ended up buying with the gift card.
Talk to you soon!

Third block - another pink one
Sorry Collette, the pinks were calling me. Pink is Sadie's favorite color, and it's her birthday week, so I had to do the second pink block!
I'm not happy with the color on the photo - I'll have to redownload it later. Believe it or not, these are all pink hearts! Taking it at nite probably had something to do with it.
Till next time!
