Yellow block

Well, I finished those blue hearts and found two really pretty fabrics (I'll post a picture later) for the sashings, borders and back of the quilt.

Meanwhile, I just finished the first of two yellow blocks. Sadie, Let me know what you think. I hope you like it!

First Block -Completed!!! (8 more and the borders to go!)

So Sadie, What do you think?
There will be dark pink 'sashing' strips between the blocks. I still need to shop for that fabric - and that will also be the fabric for the border. I'm hoping to find something very pink and floral.

Well, I still have 7 blue hearts to finish appliquing, so I'm signing off for now. I'm hoping to do the yellow hearts next weekend - and I'll add more to this diary when I do.

BTW - if you want a closer look at the fabrics, have Dad save the picture off onto the hard drive and then you can make the hearts as big as you want.

Love,
Grandma Lin

First block - Second Row

This is the second row. There's also a picture of the embrodered flower.

The first block

This is the first row of the first block. Notice that the 'darker' fabrics are on the outsides.

Sadie's Quilt

Sadie's Hearts and Flower's quilt is finally getting to the point where I'm putting the top together. About 200-250 hours so far have been put into applique and embroidery and now I'm sizing the blocks and sewing them together. I'm still not sure how I'm finishing the borders, but that will come to me.

Anyway, Sadie, this weblog is going to show you how it's going. Every time I finish another section you'll get to see it.

Each "Block" will consist of 8 applique hearts and 1 embroidered heart (in the center). There are 2 each of pink, yellow, lavender, and blue. There will be one multi-color block in the center. Each heart smaller block is just shy of 6 inches, so each block will be approximately 17.5 inches square.
